Candelaria de Monterrubio de la Serena

The Candelaria festival is celebrated on the 1st of February, the Candelas or Candelaria festivities, with a large number of people taking part. It begins with the blessing of the bonfire, which is made up of the rest of the prunings from our olive trees. Normally, at the top of the bonfire, a marimanta, made by the catechism children, is placed. Once the bonfire is blessed, it is set on fire. Around it, the traditional branches are danced and sung with typical songs of the Monterrubian Carnival. At the end of the dances, a large barbecue is prepared for all those attending. Activity enlivened with live music.
