Medellín Castle is a 13th-century fortress located on a high hill on the left bank of the Guadiana River, next to the town of Medellín. The main body of the castle has an elongated shape, as the different sections of the walls adjust to the unevenness of the terrain, and is divided into two halves by a transversal wall. The main body of the fortress is notable for the two tall towers in the centre of the north and south flanks.
