The ruins of the Almadén de la Plata Castle (14th century) now house the municipal offices. Built over a 1st-century Roman fort, it protected the area and the Silver Route. In the 18th century, part of its remains became a municipal granary, and in the 20th century, homes were built on its land. In 1997, the Town Hall was restored, preserving its history. It has been a Cultural Heritage Site since 1985.
