Convento Nuestra Señora de la Consolación

This convent, the remains of which still exist (due to its abandonment after the Civil War), was the origin of the initial population center. It is known as Our Lady of Consolation and was founded in 1566 by the first Duke of Osuna, Don Pedro Téllez Girón. It is also referred to as the Convent of the Recollects of Saint Francis of Assisi, as the Duke of Osuna authorized its foundation by the Congregation of the Recollect Fathers of Saint Francis of Assisi. The structure of the church is preserved thanks to the strength of its walls, built with very well-crafted ashlars. The building has a single-floor layout with a slight transept that still retains the sphere that supported the dome.
