Ermita de las Animas de Alsodux
- Camino Mozárabe desde Almería / Rioja-Alboloduy
Situated at the entrance to the village, it reminds us of the strong popular religiosity of the entire Andarax valley since the martyrs of the Alpujarras War and the Catholic Counter-Reformation of the Council of Trent, encouraging us to intercede for the souls in purgatory. The cartouche above the door is enlightening: Pray for the souls in purgatory. Because of its location, it also served as a humiliation place to seek divine protection from the always dangerous journeys of the time. The hermitage was destroyed by a flood at the end of the 19th century and was rebuilt a little closer to the village. For this reason it does not correspond to the usual hermitage-qubba model of the Alpujarra, as the half-orange roof is hidden by a simple doorway with a neo-Gothic flavour.
