The Ermita de las Maravillas has a long history dating back several centuries. It is believed to have been built in the 14th century by the first settlers of Abla as a place of worship and pilgrimage. Over the years, the hermitage has undergone several restorations and extensions, but has retained its original charm and importance as a spiritual centre for the local community.
The name Las Maravillas comes from a local legend according to which the Virgin Mary appeared here to a shepherd and worked a miracle that astonished all the inhabitants of the village. Since then, the hermitage has been known as a place of pilgrimage to which the faithful flock in search of miracles and blessings.
