Hermitage of the Martyrs. It was built on the outskirts of the village, and was later absorbed by the urban fabric that grew towards the ‘Arrabal’ area. The most significant characteristic of the building is its elongated box-shaped ground plan, without any great architectural features or constructive sobriety.

It is already mentioned in 1569 on the occasion of the Royal Provision of Philip II, which was intended to collect the inventory and income of all the chapels of the Priory of Magacela.

We know of the existence in this chapel of Renaissance frescoes described in several visits, representing the images of various saints. The ones that are preserved under several of them are of Mudejar origin, as is the foundation of the building, which we ascribe to this typology.

It is also possible that it was the old parish church of the village before the construction of ‘Santa María la Nueva’, the current parish church of the village, although this remains to be confirmed.

Some parts of the building show traces of work carried out at the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th century.

It can be visited every day in the mornings only.
