Ermita del Espíritu Santo
- Camino Mozárabe desde Málaga / Doña Mencía-Baena
The Hermitage of the Holy Spirit occupies the central nave of what until 1977 was the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación. When the parish church was rebuilt in 1935-1936, it included within its space the site of an old hermitage which, under the patronage of the Holy Spirit, dated from the 16th century. With a modest façade, it is still charming for its simplicity and sobriety, with the image of the Virgin of Araceli standing out, which is placed in a main niche. The interior has a single central nave presided over by a simple wooden altarpiece, guarded on its sides by the images of the Mencian Holy Week. Nowadays, it is the place where most of the brotherhoods and brotherhoods of Doña Mencía enter and gather and, during the rest of the year, it has become a museum representative of all the splendour of this ‘Semana Grande’.
