A jewel of the Cordovan Baroque, considered one of the best Baroque churches in the area and popularly known as ‘El Calvario’, it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of Monument in 2005. The reconstruction of the temple was initiated by Cristóbal de Santa Catalina. Although construction was completed in 1729, the building did not acquire its current configuration until the beginning of the 19th century. Attributed to Francisco José Guerrero, the majestic main altarpiece is made of gilded wood on a green background and has a decoration that is typical of the third third third of the 18th century, dating from around 1770. The altarpiece also houses the image of the patron saint, Our Father Jesus of Sorrows, Ecce homo, made of paper pulp in 1664.
