Ermita Nuestra Señora del Rosario
- Vía Augusta desde Cádiz / El Cuervo-Lebrija
The chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary was inaugurated in 1992 and was initially owned by the Town Council of El Cuervo. It was later ceded to the Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo del Amor y del Amparo (Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of Love and Protection) for the worship of the patron saint. Next to the Tollos lagoon, the main natural area of El Cuervo, is this hermitage destined to receive the patron saint. The surroundings are very well cared for because it is next to a recreational park of more than 60,000 m². The hermitage dates back to the 1960s and was built to provide the image of the Virgen del Rosario with a more dignified place, because until then it was located in the Dehesa Alta. On the last Sunday in May it was customary to make a pilgrimage to this place. Now the pilgrimage to this hermitage takes place on the Saturday and Sunday of the last weekend in May. It is difficult to visit the inside of the hermitage outside these hours, unless permission is requested. In any case, the most beautiful thing about it is its setting and the joy of this date. It has a separate building with toilets and rubbish collection, and it is partially visible through some bars. The architectural typology responds to the historicist taste of the middle of the century. It has a front porch and a Latin cross floor plan. It has a gabled roof except for the tower over the porch, which has a four-pitched roof. There is also a simple, single-bodied belfry.
