The Romería de El Cuervo is a festival held in honour of the Patron Saint and Honorary Mayoress of the town, Our Lady of the Holy Virgin of the Rosary.
This festivity is traditionally held on the last weekend in May, although in its origins - in 1960 - it was held in the Dehesa Alta and on the first Sunday in May.
The history of the pilgrimage has always been linked to contact with nature since, in addition to the departure of the Virgin from the church of San José and the pilgrimage from the centre of the village to the Hermitage, the celebration is accompanied by coexistence and religious ceremonies in the surroundings of the Rocío de la Cámara Park and the Tollón Lagoon - the third largest lagoon in Andalusia in terms of size and an enclave for migratory birds passing through between Europe and Africa - which provides a unique and privileged identity component.
This is, therefore, the oldest and most established festive celebration in this young municipality. A town with barely thirty years of independent history since 1992, when we achieved the segregation of the town of Lebrija, of which El Cuervo was a district. It is a festival that also has a profound influence on the idiosyncrasy of El Cuervo de Sevilla and in which a very high percentage of its population takes part.
