Fiestas patronales Santa Eufemia

The patron saint festivities are a set of solemnities that are celebrated annually in Antequera coinciding with the date of its patron saint. It is an established tradition in the city and is represented by religious events such as processions that take place in the streets of the town. On the Saturday before 16 September Antequera celebrates the procession in honour of Santa Eufemia, with the traditional candle-lighting. However, it is on the following day that a solemn mass is held to commemorate the saint's name day and the capture of the town by Christian troops in 1410. This mass, which takes place in the church of Santa Eufemia, is attended by the Municipal Council, which presents the city's banner to the patron saint of this church.
