The convent is currently inhabited by a community of Dominican nuns, founded in 1510 by the third Count of Cabra and fifth Lord of Baena, Don Diego Fernández de Córdoba, its first prioress being Doña Juana de la Cerda, daughter of the founder.


The convent church is possibly the work of the famous architect Hernán Ruíz I. Artistic grille from the 16th century, and the main altarpiece is a beautiful example of pure Italian Renaissance. Spanish sculptural group in the main altarpiece from the end of the 17th century, beginning of the 18th century, accompanied by flamboyant works from the 16th century.
