This church belongs to a community of Augustinian Recollect nuns, whose foundation dates back to 1639, although work on this extraordinary building began in 1669 on the designs of the local architect Juan Trujillo Moreno, and was completed in 1726, after receiving the final guiding impulse from the architect Francisco Hurtado Izquierdo, who designed the impressive façades. Its main space is, precisely, a monumental elliptical enclosure with a longitudinal layout, a scheme that is also repeated in its high dome raised on a drum. Inside, the main altarpiece stands out, made in 1730 by Martín de los Reyes, according to a design by Francisco José Guerrero, notably influenced by the stylistic models of Francisco Hurtado Izquierdo. Five smaller altarpieces, by the same artist and tracista, occupy the walls of the elliptical floor plan.
