IGLESIA DE SAN CIPRIANO, ZAMORA
One of the oldest (and most beautiful) Romanesque churches in Zamora, built at the end of the 11th century.
It retains its original chevet, consisting of three Romanesque chapels with a flat apse. The south doorway and tower date from the 12th century.
Between the 13th and 14th centuries, its interior space was reduced to a single nave and two funerary chapels were built.
Its interior space is of great beauty and the capitals in the main arches and the Gothic painting in a window in the north wall are very interesting.
The crucified Christ is not Romanesque although it is of high quality, and the altarpiece in the south chapel is Renaissance.
Open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm and from 5pm to 7pm. Sundays from 10am to 2pm.
