The Church of San Pedro Mártir in Verona was part of a former Dominican convent founded in 1575. The temple only conserved the exterior walls, the belfry and two façades: that of San Pedro and that of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, both Mannerist, dating from around 1630, although the former boasts Baroque elements added in 1721 under the direction of Leonardo Antonio de Castro. The recently restored building has a Latin cross floor plan, with outstanding elements such as the central nave, with wooden vaults, and the transept. The work has also allowed the recovery of the main façade, the refurbishment of the blind triforiums over the side naves and the columbarium area, presided over by the carving of John Paul II by the local artist Francisco Javier López del Espino. The chapel of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno forms part of the annexed church of San Pedro Mártir.
