‘LA TABLA": RUINED VILLAGE AND OLD RAILWAY STATION
An old village that seems to have stood still in time, which was an industrial and commercial centre in the first half of the 20th century around the railway station that still remains, which was inaugurated in 1896.
The old railway station, now disused, covered the Plasencia-Astorga railway line, where La Tabla was a stopping point. The sign with its name ‘La Tabla - Villafáfila’ can still be seen on the passenger building, which seems to have stood still in time along with the platforms, the loading bay and the railway tracks.
The village preserves the dwellings of the families who stayed there, where the old flour factory from 1954 is also located. Although all of this is in a state of ruin, there are still brick windows and doors, typical of the architecture of Tierra de Campos. The silo at the end of the village was used for the reception and storage of wheat.
The dovecote is an element present throughout Tierra de Campos, and the one in this village is still in very good condition.
The railway line was closed in 1985, condemning the village to be forgotten.
