La Velada de Santa Amalia

From 9 to 11 July, Santa Amalia celebrates its patron saint fiestas. Known as ‘La Velada’. It coincides with the arrival in the town of students and residents who live outside the municipality, many of them as a result of emigration in the middle of the last century. Fireworks mark the start of the festivities. The festive programme includes a procession in honour of the patron saint of the town, night-time open-air dances and recreational and sporting activities.
