The Laguna de los Tollos is a lagoon located on the border between the municipalities of Jerez de la Frontera (province of Cadiz) and El Cuervo de Sevilla (province of Seville).

It is the third largest lagoon in Andalusia and is considered to be of special ecological importance, both for the importance of its biological communities and for the relationships that human populations have established with this area over time.

Despite the functional alterations it has suffered as a result of mining for decades, it continues to be the centre of numerous cultural manifestations of the local population closest to El Cuervo de Sevilla.

The lagoon is a protected natural area under the protected status known as a ‘site of community interest’, which are places that contribute significantly to the maintenance or restoration of a favourable state of conservation of a type of natural habitat or living animal species. It forms part of the Tollos-Espera endorheic complex, being one of the most important wetlands in Andalusia.

Due to mining overexploitation, the lagoon was for many seasons an immense dry land of clay, a situation that is being reverted thanks to the recovery plans of the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Regional Government).
