Mirador de la Atalaya
- Camino Mozárabe desde Málaga / Villanueva de Algaidas-Cuevas Bajas
This viewpoint is located in the village of La Atalaya, which emerged as a result of the foundation of a Franciscan monastery next to the Burriana stream. In the surroundings of the monastery, you can find the Bridge of the Bebedero Stream, which presumably connected the villages of La Atalaya and La Rincona, and was built by the hermits themselves. From this stunning vantage point, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Convent of Our Lady of Consolation of Las Algaidas, which was assigned in 1566 by the first Duke of Osuna to the Congregation of the Recollect Fathers of St. Francis of Assisi. Adjacent to the ruins of the convent is a Mozarabic rock hermitage, one of the most important in Andalusia, built between the 9th and 10th centuries.
