Museo del Queso

The museum is located in a typical Casarrese house, restored, whose description coincides with that of Pascual Madoz (1847). In this way, a typical space contains the wisdom of the manufacture of a distinctive product.

Given the importance of keeping the traditional domestic work in memory, the Cheese Museum combines two parallel discourses: the production of Torta del Casar and the daily life of the families of the village. For this reason, some rooms in the house contain contents related to cheese, while others narrate its original function and help to better understand the contents, maintaining the knowledge of the popular. The collection of pieces responds to each of the two discourses mentioned above.
