In the Plaza de Aguilar y Eslava we find the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios. It is a small temple built on the remains of a 16th century hermitage dedicated to Santa Ana. One of the most venerated images in the city is worshipped here, the Virgen de la Soledad, a work by Pedro de Mena which was acquired in Granada in 1663. The façade, dated 1729, gives access to a square-shaped interior divided into three naves. The presbytery is covered with a beautiful dome decorated with abundant plasterwork in the form of complicated leafwork, the work of Antonio Álvarez, as well as the main altarpiece, which was gilded in 1744 by Francisco Ponce de León, ten years after its construction.
