The construction of the Roman Theatre of Medellín dates back to the 1st century BC, during the height of the Roman Empire. It is attributed to General Quintus Servilius Cepion, who chose Medellín as a strategic enclave to consolidate Roman rule in the region. Initially conceived as a space for theatrical and cultural events, the theatre also served as a venue for political and social activities.
