Popular Architecture: Dwellings in San Cebrián de Castro
The constructive elements of this area reflect those of the lands of Alba and Aliste, as well as Tierra de Campos, as San Cebrián is a transition zone between the two regions.
The massive presence of sierro stone becomes a distinctive element, supporting adobe or rammed earth walls and, sometimes, mud plaster.
These basic elements are mixed with solid brick cladding or rendering to protect and ennoble the façades, to which a coat of paint was added.
There are buildings with stone plinths from the sierro, with brick-framed openings, latticed windows and balconies.
Wine presses, so often used during the grape harvest, with doors that are placed at the height of the wagons to facilitate the unloading of grapes.
Paneras, we are in the Land of Bread, where the predominant feature is the mud wall built on stone plinths.
Dovecotes: in this area, there are 7 rectangular dovecotes. One of them also has a square back.
