STAGE: La Peza - Quentar (Variante)
Passing by the church and behind the Caños Gordos fountain we climb up to the castle. Shortly after passing the castle, the track to Quéntar turns off to the right. After 2.5 km we reach a crossroads where we turn right to go down to the road. On the hard shoulder we cross La Gitana gorge with its characteristic ruinous landscape of dolomites. A small path quickly appears parallel to the road which, some 300 metres after passing the pass of Los Blancares, takes off from the road to reach a turning on the right to continue on the road to Quéntar or turn off to the left to Tocón de Quéntar. This option is highly recommended in winter, as well as to shorten the stage, since in Tocón we can rest in the pilgrims' hostel or recharge our batteries in the bar. From Tocón we connect the route in the direction of Quéntar via a track that goes off to the right about 500 metres after leaving the village along the road, and leaves us a little before the cortijo de la Plata (farmhouse of La Plata).
