STAGE: Quentar - Granada

  • DISTANCE: 17,60 km
  • VILLAGES: 3
  • HOSTING: 5

From the Plaza de Quéntar we descend to the river and turn left to take the track that runs parallel to the river, and at the crossroads with the road we turn left, cross the river and take a beautiful path to Dudar. Cross Dudar and from the lower part of the village there is a track to the right, which climbs steeply and passes through the Canal de los Franceses. A titanic work from the 19th century to carry water to the gold mines on the River Darro. We continue along an uphill dirt track, with a magnificent view of the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada, the Mulhacén, the Alcazaba and the Veleta, and continue until we come across the remains of the Canal de los Franceses. We turn left and descend into the valley of the river Darro, to the old monastery of Jesús del Valle, now abandoned. We cross a track between olive trees, and follow the Darro River along a shady path, easy to walk, which takes us into Granada through Sacromonte and its spectacular Abbey, where the remains of San Cecilio, one of the Apostolic Men and patron saint of the city, can be found. We continue along the Carrera del Darro to the Convent of the Comendadoras de Santiago.
