  • DISTANCE: 18,10 km
  • VILLAGES: 5
  • HOSTING: 4

We leave Huéneja via the Mudéjar Ermita de la Presentación on the road to the Ermita de la Ermita threshing floors, and then climb slightly towards the portachuelo de Dólar, where there is a singular landmark: the dividing line between the Mediterranean and Atlantic waters. After Dólar we arrive at Ferreira, where there is an interesting interpretation centre of Moorish architecture, located in the tower of the Alcazaba. From the road we start to see the imposing castle of La Calahorra, a jewel of the Renaissance which was built and belonged to Rodrigo de Vivar y Mendoza, the first Marquis of Zenete and son of the great Cardinal Mendoza. We leave the Calahorra along Calle de las Huertas following the old miners' road. After passing the Benabre watercourse it joins the road that comes from Aldeire to the mines of the Marquesado and, after passing the mining village of Los Pozos, it continues to the left along the asphalted road that joins the aforementioned village with the town of Alquife, until it reaches the church square where this stage ends. This village has an important and rich mining heritage.
