STAGE: Abla - Hueneja

  • DISTANCE: 20,94 km
  • VILLAGES: 6
  • HOSTING: 12

If we are in transit we take the road to Huéneja going up Calle Real and in front of the hermitage before the traffic lights we turn right to return to the road. If we have slept in the hostel we leave Abla from there turning right, then left and then right towards the Paseo and straight ahead we come out in front of the Hermitage where we turn right and leave the town centre to follow the path that crosses the Nacimiento River and takes us to the Camino Real, an old communication route used by people, troops and muleteers who travelled between Granada and Almeria and in its day developed multiple services and sales. Once again we reach the river and continue upstream to the town of Fiñana, where in 1489 the Catholic Monarchs spent the night in its citadel on their way to the conquest of the kingdom of Granada. Fiñana also has a well and an Almohad mosque. Going up Calle Real, in the church square, we turn right and look for the descent to the Rambla de Almería to continue along the historic road that takes us to Venta Ratonera. After passing this village, we cross a watercourse and a monolith-arrow says goodbye to the pilgrim from the province of Almería and marks the way ahead, the path to follow towards Huertezuelas and Huéneja in the province of Granada and where we can stay in the municipal hostel Lobo.
