Camino Sanabrés desde Granja de Moreruela

STAGE 07 Lubian - A Gudiña

  • DISTANCE: 23,04 km
  • VILLAGES: 6
  • HOSTING: 0

We begin the stage oriented with a Jacobean signpost that is unique to say the least: the sculptures, all different, that the Galician artist Nicanor Carballo installed along the route in the province of Ourense. They are large stones, with Jacobean elements that guide the pilgrim.

The route begins a gentle descent along a road, taking a detour to the right towards the Sanctuary of La Tuiza, located in a beautiful valley where the river Tuela flows. The ascent to the Portela de A Canda begins, going up a path between ferns, sometimes waterlogged, and which, to reward the effort, offers spectacular panoramic views of the region.
The pilgrim arrives at the border of the autonomous community. We enter the province of Ourense through the municipality of A Mezquita.

The descent begins, first passing through the small village of A Canda before reaching Vilavella. Advancing through damp terrain, sometimes along watery corridors, we pass the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Loreto, in the vicinity of O Pereiro.

On leaving the village, the path begins a gentle ascent. We cross the railway tracks and along a track we reach O Canizo, which now belongs to the Council of A Gudiña. We walk along the national road for a stretch and, after passing the Alto de O Canizo, we cross the A-52 and take a path on the right that leads us to La Gudiña.
