We leave Allariz and travel 22.10 km to Ourense, crossing a beautiful medieval bridge on the way to another interesting village just 6 km away, Santa Mariña de Augas Santas, although to see it you have to turn off the road and go back 300 metres.
The area is an exceptional historical site where, in addition to the spectacular Romanesque church in the village of Santa María, you can visit the fort or Cibdá de Armea located on the top of the Casarellas or Muradellas hill, ‘O forno da Santa’ and the unfinished Basilica of the Ascension.
The village of Santa Mariña is linked to the existence and martyrdom of Mariña, who was beheaded for not resisting the desires of a perfect from the Roman city of Armea and buried in ‘O Forno da Santa’.
Extensive, shady oak groves line the first half of the route until we reach the less fortunate, industrialised and urbanised second half, which takes us to Ourense, the provincial capital.
As for accommodation, the only hostel available is at the end of the stage, in Ourense, although before reaching it we can find some accommodation and places to eat in the municipality of San Cibrao das Viñas.
