We leave El Cubo de la Tierra del Vino along the road, next to the forgotten railway track. After a pleasant walk we reach Villanueva de Campeán. We enter this town by the Calzada street, to leave by the Santiago street, so that just crossing it, makes us feel that we are doing the Camino de Santiago by the Vía de la Plata. In this town we can find a good place to spend the night, with everything necessary for the rest of the pilgrim.
In a long walk along different farm tracks and paths, we arrive at the Barrio de San Frontis, at the gates of Zamora. Bordering the Duero River, we leave the remains of the Roman bridge on our left, entering the city by the medieval bridge. It is worth enjoying the history of its cobbled streets, and stopping to admire its beautiful 12th century Romanesque cathedral, its Cathedral Museum, the Easter Week Museum, its countless palatial houses, and its 19 beautiful churches. In one of them, the 11th century Romanesque church of Santiago de los Caballeros, El Cid was knighted.
Zamora is undoubtedly one of the cities where Easter Week is most intensely experienced. In its streets you will find traces of these festivities. In its churches you can see the images that are carried in procession during these days, and in its museum you will find most of the images that are carried in procession.
