STAGE: Galisteo - Oliva de Plasencia

We leave Galisteo via the medieval bridge over the river Jerte, from where we will have an interesting view of the town.

A tarmac road with little traffic takes us to Aldehuela del Jerte, where you can find something to eat and drink, and continues on to Carcaboso. Although the road, which we have abandoned because the bridge over the Jerte has disappeared, is still a kilometre away, several milestones have been recovered from the door of its church dedicated to Santiago.

A beautiful stretch of road next to the canal takes us to Venta Quemada, a private estate and crossroads of the road to Oliva de Plasencia and the road, also known here as the Cañada Real de la Plata, where we will not find any services.

We can continue our way northwards or turn off for 6 kilometres along the local road to Oliva de Plasencia, which is the option we recommend here. Oliva de Plasencia is a pleasant town with the minimum services necessary for pilgrims, where we can spend the night and plan days more suited to our needs.
