STAGE: Doña Mencía - Baena

  • DISTANCE: 8,68 km
  • VILLAGES: 2
  • HOSTING: 30

We look for the exit towards Baena along the old Balachar road, which is accessed via the steep Jaén street. At the end of the street we will see the first arrows.

After a steep climb of more than 1 km, the road smooths out and 5.8 km later we reach the CV-327 road. Turn right onto the road for about 700 m and following the arrows we turn off onto a path that goes off to the left and takes us gently downhill to the Fuente de los Siete Caños (Fountain of the Seven Spouts), on the outskirts of Baena.

Going up the streets Fuente Baena, Alcalde Manuel Valdés, El Rincón del Barrizal, and Juan Valera we reach the Plaza España, and Llano del Rincón, which is the starting point for Castro del Río and the junction with the Mozarabic Way to Granada. To follow the route from here, follow the arrows marked on the road to Córdoba.

To go to the hostel, go up towards the castle along Calle Cardenal Herranz Casado, Calle de los Mesones, Calle Barrizalejo, Calle Juan Ocaña, Calle de la Tela, Plaza del Angel and Calle del Coro.
