At this point we will find the option of continuing along the Vía de la Plata to Astorga, linking there with the French Way, or directing our steps to Santiago by the so-called Mozarabic Way, through Ourense. In this case, starting from the hostel, we head west and, following the signs, in a few kilometres we reach the Esla river, which we cross over the Quintos bridge.
Although there is the option of the road, it is worth following the path that starts on the left, following the course of the river Esla, and crowning El Castillón, a high cliff with extraordinary views where there is an ancient castro and cave paintings in a rocky shelter. Then, after passing the Valdelarosa estate, the route continues to Faramontanos de Tábara, a village of curious wine cellars, with a bar and shop to recharge your batteries and a simple porticoed church where you can rest. The stage ends in Tábara, where the tower of the now disappeared monastery of San Salvador, founded by Abbot Froila in the 9th century, stands out. Its famous scriptorium produced the most beautiful beatifications: the Tábara and Gerona scriptoriums.
