STAGE: Jaén - Martos
We start from the Plaza de Santa María de Jaén and follow the yellow arrows through the old part of the city of Jaén, passing through Arco San Lorenzo, Plaza de Santiago, Plaza de San Juan, Palacio de Villardompardo where there are some magnificent and very well preserved Arab Baths, we continue looking for the Plaza de la Magdalena with its Church and we leave the city at a roundabout where there is a monument with the Mozarabic Cross and the Cross of Santiago.
From here we reach the old road from Jaén to Torredelcampo along the pavement of the road to Córdoba, after two more roundabouts we will be on the old road to Torredelcampo, we will go up this road with houses on both sides.
Once we reach the end of the last building, we will soon leave the municipality of Jaén and enter the Sierra Sur through Torredelcampo. Descending we will reach a couple of streams. Before crossing them we leave two paths on the left that lead to the Casa del Vicario and the Sierra de Jabalcuz.
From the second stream we start to ascend, reaching the fence of the motorway.
Leaving a path to the right, we continue ascending, looking for the crossroads of the Megatín road. We descend approximately 1 km and then climb again, this slope leads us to Torredelcampo. We take the Andalucía street and look for the Town Hall Square and the Church of San Bartolomé. The exit from Torredelcampo is through the Puerta de Martos, and after strolling through this pleasant town we leave it and go up a cobbled road to the Ermita de Santa Ana, patron saint of the town.
An esplanade with seats, tables and a good water fountain can give us a brief rest during the stage, as it is more or less halfway along the route. At the end of this esplanade there is an old Iberian Oppidum on the right and a Visigothic Necropolis on the left. A stretch of road will take us to Jamilena, the road turns off to enter this town at a small Humilladero where the Patron Saint of the town, Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, is venerated.
The path takes us into the streets of Jamilena passing the Town Hall and heading towards the industrial estate on the outskirts to take the old road to Martos, a road that will leave us in the town of La Peña, which will accompany us on the horizon for the few kilometres that remain, After passing the steep slope of San Amador the road arrives at the square where the Town Hall is located, if we follow the signs a few metres further down we stop at the Albergue de las HH. Trinitarias.
