STAGE: Moclín - Alcalá la Real

On the outskirts of Moclín, next to the Regional Interpretation Centre, we descend some 700 m and reach the Malalmuerzo Fountain. At this point we leave the tarmac and continue along a dirt track that leads to the road. We turn left, taking extreme caution during the 2 km of the route before joining the N-432. Cross it and head to the right, walking along the left-hand verge for about 200 m, turning left onto the ‘Cordel de la Gallina’ cattle track. We ascend 400 m to the ‘Coto de los Pedernales’. We continue along a track until we reach a milestone.
We must continue among the olive trees, but as close as possible to a gully on the left, we reach a new track, we continue to the left, and after a climb we join a private road that leads to the ‘Cañada Alta’ farmhouse.

We continue to the right, back to the N-432, next to the Cooperativa Aceitera San Antonio. We continue along the left-hand verge for 1 km, turning off to the left onto a road that leads to Ermita Nueva. We leave the village descending and straight on, crossing the Palancares stream, we continue along the Paseo de los Almendrales, reaching the N-432.

We continue along the left-hand verge until we reach some ruins, at which point we cross the road and turn off onto a path on the right. Continuing on we come to a house on the right, and a pool on the left. We follow it and after about 150 m we leave this one and take another one to the left. After a stream we see a white cross. We follow our path along a track that crosses the road over a bridge. Ascending we reach the outskirts of Alcalá Real.
